One of our E Class W211s acquired a warning on the dash the other day, "service brake fault", so it went to the main dealer to diagnose the bad news. They found the SBC brake pump had reached the "end of its life" at 160k miles and 4 years old but they carried on to say that Mercedes will pay for a new one, parts and labour, I wasnt even going to ask, they had one in stock and did it the same day. We didnt buy the car from them and they dont even service it, the old pump seemed to run more than it should and its much quieter now, a good story for a change.

Dealers do get slagged off quite a lot and maybe some of them deserve it at times, but when good service is had by an owner, I think they should say so. It is so refreshing to hear about.

I agree with Helen. My local dealer in Southampton is excellent but recently my brother took his A class to Jacksons Mercedes in Poole. He was in the area when a rear bulb failed and he had no idea how to change it. They told him and his wife to sit in the waiting area, gave them both a coffee and supplied the bulb for £1-60p and made no charge for fitting it. They hadn't bought the car there but were mighty impressed.
