Anyone recommend a good independant in the Bristol/North Somerset area.

Is Cornerstone Garage at Ilton in Somerset too far for you? I think that the guy there is named Paul but I know that he is okay. I use MBS in Exeter which is 30 + miles away from where I live in Taunton, and I recommend them.

I've used Steve Bateman in Bristol (Brislington) for my w123 - he seems to know what he's doing, and will quote before going ahead with work. Tel 0117 0972 0600

I've used two independents in Bristol and I thoroughly recommend both.

One is Steve Bateman (aready posted) who has done service work on my 250 Turbodiesel and (brakes, rear suspension bushes, auto tx fluid). His labour charges are reasonable and he gives you feedback about what needs doing on the car (and when) as a result of the service. Steve also does Volvo and Alfa Romeo.

The other is Parkway Automobile Engineering in Fishponds (BS16 3JH, - 0117 965 6164). They sorted out a starting problem I had (air leak into fuel lines) and knew what they were looking for/doing right from square one - labour charges were very reasonable. Dennis does prestige cars other than Merc, but his spacious workshop is usually full of Mercs (all ages), and other customers that I have spoken to hold him in high regard. I believe that Dennis will also provide a courtesy car.

So, take your pick.
