I would like to commend Truro Mercedes in Cornwall for some excellent service. I had a new battery before going to Cornwall on holiday and could not find the radio code.

Close to where we were staying was Truro Mercedes so I popped in to ask for some help. I did not exactly look like an important prospective customer, my 2001 W202 was looking particually scruffy after it's 300 mile journey in the rain and my shorts and baseball hat look did mot match the attire of the staff or any other customers.

Despite this I was treated with courtesy and respect and a technician came to take out the radio to get the serial number to look up on the computer as no match was made from the chassis number. The code on the system did not restart the radio either unfortunately.

At this point I was expecting to go to Halfords to buy a new radio when the technician offered to take it out and send it away for two days for recoding. I agreed to this and two days later a call to my mobile confirmed that it was ready.

I went back, they fitted it tested it (it worked) connected the autochanger up and charged my the princely sum of £22.00 - including the VAT. The cost price they had paid for the recoding company - they even showed me his invoice.

Well done Truro Mercedes - First time I have used a main dealer and I was really impressed.
