Well I am still trying to help my son sort his car out, which is a SEAT Leon. After all the gearbox problems he had, he then has his battery go on him and of course that meant he needed to put the code in for the radio. What he didn't have in the handbook was the radio code so he went down to SEAT today and 20mins and £26 later came away with the radio code. What is odd now is that although the radio works fine, his multichange cd player is doing nothing, won't even eject the cd's in it, never mind play any. He isn't sure if his SatNav is working or not, or his handsfree phone. SEAT say it's nothing they have done, the guy that took the gearbox out said it's nothing he has done  I assumed something like that which is all in one unit would be connected by just one lead or am I wrong

Hello Sweety Pie, the chances are the changer is also coded. £26 to look on the computer, thats worse than Volvo at £7.

Malcom thank you, I will let my son know and he can get back to SEAT. I think £26 is outrageous too, but what can one do other than pay :x

I worry that my son has bought not a LEON but a LEMON

The CD changer is not coded on the VAG group cars.
There is only one lead to connect the 2 units together and 2 if it is a dash or armrest mounted unit (one for power and the other for illumination when you switch the lights on).
The most likely is that they removed the unit to look at the serial number and they dis-lodged the connectors at the back.

Thanks marnix, well SEAT have just told my son there is only one code. I will have to get my other half to have a look at it, although he doesn't have the keys to take the radio out. It's one thing after another with this car :-x

Thanks for the compliment Malcolm.
I only respond to a question if I know the answer.
There are a lot of people who have just a guess at things, but that often confuses the one asking the question even more.
For the question about the dead CD changer: Is it factory fitted or not? Is it D2B or not? If D2B and after market, it could be that he has put a kink in the fibre optic and this is now useless.
If the one asking the question is too shy as to give enough details, it's only a guessing game for everyone

Marnix the CD changer is a factory fitted one with the SatNav, hands free phone thingy and radio all in one unit set in the dash. Apparently the guy that first bought the car worked for SEAT so he had pretty much all the optional extras fitted. My son is trying to see if a fuse has gone, but I think he only has one fuse for that  I have a VAG car and when I looked in the handbook I have a fuse for the radio and one for the CD changer too  To make things more complicated my son did phone SEAT again and now they are saying they didn't remove the radio to get the serial number, yet they made him take the car to the workshop and leave it there for 20mins :?

I do agree with your comments, and no the car is a 208374 so that will not be optic, all I can find is that may have to be joined up to HHT and version coded

Thank you. Malcolm
