"the ipod cable" ?? I thought there were a hundred & one options - could you give some more detail please (including cost) as I'm trying to improve on my itrip, but without spending 300 + on the official kit which has had some mixed reviews on this forum
cheers

The factory IPOD kit for MOST based comand systems / audio 20 systems costs £9 for the cradle and £140 for the adapter with mountings, loom adapter etc. All plus VAT.

I've installed a Dietz version and factory ones and the factory one is the best. They both work seamlessly with the steering wheel controls.

If you have telephone pre-wire, then there is no additional coding required. It just plugs in and works!

For those without phone pre-wire and wanting it, it costs circa £1000 fitted if you want a bluetooth cradle with it (£300 on its own!). So if anyone is think of getting a new car, and might want a phone for heavens sake order the phone pre-wire its worth every penny as a factory fit! (~£400)

Try an FM Transmitter

My kids bought me an FM transmitter, simply plug it into an IPOD (wont work on an IPOD shuffle). Then tune it to a blank frequency on your radio........and there you go IPOD on radio.....runs of the ciggy lighter. Brilliant thing

Sound quality wont be up to that of the factory kit and you will have trouble when travelling around the country and come across a local station which uses a similar frequency.

I have the Dension Gateway 500 in my 164 ML. FABULOUS sound quality with the Harman Kardon package I have. A little confusing to operate at first, but much easier if you arrange your music in playlists, and keep less than 100 of them. Titles etc display on the head unit, but so far I have not managed to get titles on the dash cluster - someone else tells me they have sussed this, and it is a simple update from the Dension website...
