Green squared number plate

So the other day I saw my first diesel car with the green square number plate for EVs. Don’t know if there is a law against it yet but i know even hybrids can’t use them. He must have had it made as there was no other maker’s/garage name on the plate. Funny it was on a jaguar F pace. But I still see new EVs with a plane number plates.

They are not mandatory...but they are also not supposed to be put on non EVs.

Yup, saw one on a hybrid Merc taxi the other day. I don't know why but it annoyed me !
