I wondered what effect these lower dust pads had on the discs - do they wear less / more / the same?

I was thinking that because these pads are non-metallic then the disks might wear less?

Malcolm: I noticed a post last year where you said:

From EBC direct.

There are different grades, I have the reds one on the MB, very good formular, I would not use the ones I have on the V70R again, I need to replace those, and will decide over the week end.more than lickely go to RED

Malcolm

which are the ones you have on the V70R that you wouldn't use again?

Hi Rory, I had the BLACK racing ones on the V70R,they are very hard.

Soft pads wear the disc more than hard ones.

Though I had the RED ones on the 129 and they were good, they do not keep the wheels as clean as the GREEN ones.

I opted for the GREEN ones on the R230 in the end, The dust just wipes off. its not that horrible black sticky stuff. I think the wear could be the same as the originals, its too early for me to say.

Thanks for that. Logic would seem to suggest that softer pads would sacrifice themselves rather than wearing the disc - wonder why the opposite semms to be true?

I always though Green were lowest dust, but this EBC page http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Automotive.html says Red are lower dust.

Soft pads wear the disc more, thats fact, I think that I went for the green ones in my case as they did not do the red for the rear on mine,at the time when I ordered. They have only recently started doing the rears.
