I have a 2005 270 clk and got out the car locked it as normal. Came back pressed remote and drivers door button came up ,passenger one went crazy going up and down 6 or seven times rapidly then stayed up . Drove home went to lock it same again .
Only passenger door does it ,tried other remote ,the same .it eventually unlocks or locks but just rapid up and down first.
Any suggestions ??

It’s quite common and there’s a lot of videos on YouTube on the issue

... and cheaper to replace the whole lock than try to fit just a new spring.
The old lock, worn and stiff, is probably what caused the spring to break.

Get some spray lube into all your locks as well

My local garage has quoted about £100 for door strip ,Would I be better supplying a used lock actuator that I could grease up, than getting them to fit new spring ? I'm getting a bit past sitting on floor trying to get actuator out myself . So could try prestige autoparts for actuator (used them before and they seem reliable ) and supply part .Any thoughts ?? I'm sure new part is going to be stupid money .

Isn't that a piece of string question? Who can give you a definitive answer?

If the garage will remove the lock mechanism within their quoted price, maybe it'll be cheaper for you to buy a new spring and spend time fitting it yourself.
Just a thought ...
