unfortunatly hit by a bird today!!!
grill splintered on impact..
any ideas on possible costs .. secondhand or new ..?
any ideas where to go to purchase ? as the car does not look the same without one..

Roughly £500 from Mercedes, the blades are titanium hence the price. The blades and star can be bought but the plastic chassis isnt available as a part on its own but I can fix these. Can you send a picture of the damage. I refurbish these grills if that helps see attached email me jib@carrera2.co.uk to know prices etc.

I havent repaired any for a long time, mainly because the yanks wanted them repairing but they dont like to wait, they expect it back with them within 48 hours!!!!
My grill on the CL took about 5 days on and off to get it right, I had to acid dip the blades to remove the finish, then remove stone chips and dents and then rub them down so the blades are smooth. Machine polish is the final phase so they look like mirrors, personally I prefer the brushed or satin finish, the high shine is a bit bling bling, it also takes a day to get the shine right.
The benifits of titanium is it can be left to the elements and it doesnt need anything major to look after it. I also removed the three bonnet vent blades and polished them, I think they look great they just break up the mass of colour a little.
