:D Now the weather has turned a little cooler, i have noticed that in the mornings when the engine has just started and im prparing to move off, the steering groans, not an aw i dont want to type of groan, but here we go again im just warming up give us a chance will you type, you know the type.
i was just wondering wether the weather had anthing to do with this as it has not happen before, and wonder if the steering fluid might be more viscous with the drop in night time tempreture ?
it's not a major problem but it just annoying and loud at 6 in the morning.
dont wanna wake the whole street you get me.

Can't see why it would groan. This normally happens in the summer when the bushes dry out. I wonder whether its to do with the serpentine belt that runs both the power steering pump and the alternator. Cold morning, lights on,fan on, rear window on, heated seats? etc, then you add to the load with the power steering and the belt starts to slip?

the belt is more likely to make the steering "skip" or scream
check whether there is air in the system by turning the wheel whilst peering in the reservoir( yes, this will take 2 people!)
or call 020 8853 3343 and ask for alan (power steering services)
failing that check the filter if it has one

I had this problem and it was low fluid level in the steering pump - the fluid expands as it warms up.
