Grounded 300sl 24v w129 1992

Hello guys I grounded my front spoiler on a steep driveway and have found that a piece of wiring which looks like a thermometer stick has dropped down from just under the radiator. Can anyone tell me where it should sit, it is encapsulated with a black plastic wedge shaped cover with one single 3/4 mm wire. Thanks

Unfortunately not Shude but thanks alot for going to the trouble of taking a pic and placing it here. I will try and get hold of a digital camera myself and take a piccy of my problem. Thanks again.

Behind the numberplate I think.  It is the ambient air temp sensor for the dashboard display.
Anywhere in the shade will do.
