I had a brief look at one for sale when we bought the SL in 1996,The 1969 Vantage was £15,000 more than the 1971 SL, our budget didn't stretch to that!
What's the price of a 69 V8 Vantage now compared to the W107?

We are on our 7 & 8th Mercedes all autos. Never had any problems with the auto boxes.

I'm not going to admit it........Oh okay then seeing how you are all asking
I've owned quite a few manual Mercedes over the years, even raced one over over 3 years, but never found the gearboxes horrible. Well, that was until I discovered and drove a more modern 320 CLK of 2002 vintage. Not the gearbox fault. I found what I thought was an incredibly heavy flywheel attached to the crank and after higher revs the engine took so look to slow down that changing up or down in the gears was not synchronising. If I buy manual 320 I would have the flywheel wheel lightened to reduce the over rev issue
