Has anyone had any issues using Hemmerite paint for the underside as I read a comment recently that it is not suitible due to setting too hard and cracking?

There is always the danger with hard finishes on the underside of the car, once the water gets in it often cannot get out, and the rust starts. with the products like wax oil, this does not happen.

Hammerite paint is a very overrated product, it will be fine on gates and pots etc that just need normal weather protection, but as malcolm has said absolutely no use underneath moving vehicles, you need to use something that will adhere and stay slightly soft try mixing some cheap underseal with some waxoyl and paint that on

Absolutely agree.Soft(ish) underseal will self repair in a short time, thus maintaining the protection.

Tetraschutz is very good, and waxoyl also make a schutz product, although only for use with a compressor.

Also SEM rubberised underguard is fantastic, and comes in aerosol, but it covers very well, and can be painted over. Comes in black, white, and clear

This aerosol wax/schutz should be available from any good local motor factor
