Hi there,
Some of you may remeber me from a couple of months back when I kept prattling on about an old 280SL, and what to look for when buying one, well, I took your advice, both on what to look for and on the fact that the 280 is a little underpowered (and I had a mechanic friend look over it) and am now the proud owner of a 1980 manual 350SL with only 42,000 on the clock. It drives wonderfully, and I still have a smile from yesterday's top-down cruise along the A1!!
Just wanted to say thanks for your help (esp Andy) and ask (yet another) unleaded fuel question - sorry!
The guy who sold it to me told me that the previous owner had said that both unleaded and LRP were fine to use, with no mention of additives that I've just read about in another forum topic. I really know nothing about this sort of thing and was hoping for some advice!
Thanks again,
Chris

Happy chappy!

Congrats on your acquisition!

Look at the sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap. If it  says, in addition to the tyre pressure chart, "Super (auch belifrei)", you're OK with unleaded.

You were lucky yesterday - no chance of a top-down cruise on the west of the Pennines.
