Hi All

I wonder if I could get some advice.

I am storing my hard top for my 350SL against the wall as I don't have a great deal of space for it. Now it is not in any danger but it has crossed my mind that over a period of time that it might warp - I might be talking nonsense here and worrying about nothing but does anyone have any expereince of problems with hard top storage etc?

I suppose I should be storing it on the floor on blocks but I don't have the space and I am turning into a worrier here. I guess my question is how robust are these?

Any advise would be apprecaited

thanks
Dave

they are very robust but if your short of space its better to hang them that gives you more room anyway rather than lean the against the wall "no different to a guitar really over time it will warp if leaned against a wall"

The original storage trolleys that MB and others supplied were designed for vertical storage. The roofs are made of aluminium alloy and are very strong. You need not worry about warping unless you store in such a way that it does not rest evenly on the floor or you place additional heavy objects on it. I have stored mine verically for years with no problems, but of course leaning it against the wall can be a potential disaster if it slips and gets scratched.

If you have enough headroom in your garage, various hoist mechanisms are also available to store the roof near the ceiling. However, many of these employ point contacts and can stress the roof more than storing it vertically.

Okay so it looks as though I am storing the correct manner, the hardtop is stored in such a way that if the roof fell in it would not get damaged! so I am not worried about scratches etc..

So thanks for the info you have set my mind at rest, I have also had a look at a few MB storage thingies and I see that they basically store the same way.

Once again thanks for the information is greatly appreciated
