head units

i have an after market cd player which was in the car when i got it.
how are they fixed in? is there a cage behind the dash?

its in a c180

Sits in the glove box. If it was i the car when you bought it, where was it???

its in the center console below the heater controls

:Oops: Sorry, I thought you meant the CD changer...THAT sits in the glove box! The head unit I don't know, my car had the Audio 20 originally (now a Comand ) that was held in by 4 screws into a frame just below the face of the centre console.

Usually held in place by spring clips, needing different types of removal tools.
Saying that I have always managed with some very creative wire coathanger bending

so it should come out with the stereo keys??

From around 1996 on they are held in with clips, if you have a little slot each side then the keys 000 589 88 63 00 £1.02p from MB do the job.
