head units

i have an after market cd player which was in the car when i got it.
how are they fixed in? is there a cage behind the dash?

its in a c180

:Oops: Sorry, I thought you meant the CD changer...THAT sits in the glove box! The head unit I don't know, my car had the Audio 20 originally (now a Comand :D ) that was held in by 4 screws into a frame just below the face of the centre console.

Usually held in place by spring clips, needing different types of removal tools.
Saying that I have always managed with some very creative wire coathanger bending :)

From around 1996 on they are held in with clips, if you have a little slot each side then the keys 000 589 88 63 00 £1.02p from MB do the job.
