Could anyone tell me where the headlight control module is situated on a 2005 ML 270cdi? Are there additional sensors that could cause the lights to shine too high when driving and yet be perfectly ok when tested and adjusted when stationary.
The car has xenon headlights and I am continually dazzling everyone.
Just passed the MOT and the headlights were and are adjusted correctly.

When I scan for any faults I get a fault code saying excess voltage at headlight adjustment.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

It could well be that the motors that adjust the headlights are getting an odd feed from somewhere.
Have you checked the headlight level switch is connected correctly in the dash ?

i suppose as a temporary fix , you could adjust headlights to where they want to be and unplug the motors in each headlight until you solve the issue.

There is no levelling switch in the dash the xenon headlights are automatically adjusted.

oh, ok, mine has the normal halogen lights hence i have the switch/thumb screw thing.
I suppose as long as the adjusting motors are in the headlight, taking the plug out would resolve the issue until faulty part replaced, or is that just a shot in the dark (pun intended !!!)
