Headlight control switch "back-light" not working.

Hi people,

I've a 2010 W2014 C220 Cdi sport and I've just realised that the back-light for the rotary headlight, sidelight etc control is no longer working. I normally leave it set on A ( auto) so normally don't have to touch it so didn't realise it was off.

The illumination in the centre of the knob is OK (on) but the illumination for the disc surrounding the knob showing the various "options" is dark. Also ( not sure if it's the same optic feed) but there is no illumination to the parking-brake release either?

I've not had a look at the problem yet, but thought it sensible to "ask the forum" first I assume that the various dashboard illuminations are via fibre optics?

Any help welcome to save me taking the whole dashboard to pieces unnecessarily

I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that this has come up before and, strangely, the circular display is not lit only the central switch. I may be wrong though!

I think you’re both right, they’re not back lit...

Damn it!

Now I will have to check mine but I cannot recall seeing it being lit.

Mine is lit to display the lighting symbols but the actual surround is not but I can see the options as it is lit by the ambient lighting.
