I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar problems. Now the weather has cooled a little and with the addition of some rain the headlights are fogging up internally.
Just noticed this and am a little annoyed as this was one of many ongoing faults which lead me to sell my VX220turbo earlier in the year!!
Car is an 05 E320cdi, my first Merc and I was, until now very impressed.

had it in one of the front fogs on my c-class. It went away on it's own but I only got it in March so don't know if it will come back this winter.

I had ot on one headlight on my A6. I stuck one of those little silica gel packs that you get in electrical good inside the light housing and it seemed to sop-up all the moisture. Dry out the light first using a blow dryer.

Thanks for the reply mate. My Vauxhall had 9000 miles on the clock and many owners had ongoing problems which weren't cured even when the units were replaced. Replacement headlights were manufactured specially for the model and retail at 500 quid each!!

I think we should expect better from a manufacturer such Mercedes and will probably go down the warranty route. After all, the car has only covered 14k miles and is 18 months old. You shouldnt have to fork out £40,000 for a car and then expect to mess around with hair dryers every time it rains and the weather goes cold.

couldn't agree more. If you search this forum you will see a lot of people with problems you wouldn't expect from a car of that value and complete indifference from the MB dealers. The cars are nice to drive but the ownership experience is not always what it should be.

The Audi was a 1999 model and had done 160,000 when I sold it so I didn't mid digging around inside a little. I agree with you 100% that you should get MB to sort it out. Don't take no as an answer. Let us know how you get on.

Fogging is just moisture. The back of the housing is sealed but if it's been opened at some pont, moisture may have crept in. I'd suggest having your dealer park it in his workshop with the housing open for a couple of hours with the headlights on, that should be enough to sort it. Failing that, the gel pack in the housing idea is a good one. My 04 lights are clear, as are the ones on my Dad's 02 E class so I don't believe its a common problem.
