headlight wipers on 79 280te

i recently bought a 79 280te that was imported from germany when it was new. it does not have a english version manual so i am having a bit of difficulty figuring out how the wipers on the headlights are supposed to operate. any help would be appreciated.

The wipers on the headlamps will only work when the lights are on. (Oh of course I hear you say.) They operate using a secondary pump in the main water tank just behind the nearside headlamp controlled by the same switch that operates the windscreen wipers. The motors can easily be disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt so there is very rarely any need to replace them.

Rip 'em off and bin 'em! A severe case of over egging the pudding. Many fail after the years and it is simply not worth the effort to repair the things for the miniscule contribution they make. Clearly if they work however, leave them alone!
