The other night I noticed that when my headlights are on that I'm unable to flash my lights. So I investigated further and found that all sorts of strange things happen with them. My sidelights work fine. My headlights aren't too bad although the passenger side is dimmer and more orange

Anyway to explain further here are some pics

This is with just the headlights on

This is what happens when I pull the headlight switch out one click

This is what happens when I push the wiper stalk forwards

If I pull the wiper stalk back towards me to flash my lights then nothing happens.

It's puzzled me. Any Ideas

Looks like you have an earthing problem with your nearside light , check all the bulbs and the connectors ; you have 4 bulbs sidelight, dip, main and fog; the front foglights come on when you pull the switch out one click, the rear fog on the second click when the amber indicator in the switch should also illuminate.

As C220GJS says must be a poor earth grounding problem

Hmmm, I had a look and all the bulbs seem to be fine. I've tightened the female connections up on the main plug into the light unit (they were a little loose) and now the lights work as they should, except for the fog lights, which now don't work at all. Ah well, I can live with that I suppose. they're not part of the MOT anyway, are they.

try and run a seprate earth wire from the light UNIT back to the battery or chassis and see if this helps . If so, this is the cure!
