wondering if anyone can shed some light on this (no pun intended)
the headlight work as they should, sidelights, auto and off all ok,
if i leave the switch in the "0" position when it gets dark the headlights come on as if they were in auto mode, is this normal or is something not working. ?

I think that is to do with the "Intelligent Lighting System" incorporated into the car. I have an E250 Bluetec 2009, and there is scope to either activate the ILS or make it inactive.

If you have intelligent lighting system then the lights will come on irrespective of what position the light switch is in when the car detects that it is dark or raining. In fact some cars that have this system fitted do not even have an "A" position on the headlight switch only sidelights, 0 and On.

This might explain something I've noticed with my '09 C220. Off works as expected, as does A, but sidelights only often behaves like A. Is this what you guys are referring to? Is there anyway to make it behave as one might except (i.e. side lights means just that)? The only thing I recall that I've seen in the settings menu is whether lights come on all the time or not, irrespective of switch position.

Many thanks.
