Headlights

Could anyone help please? I want to take my car to a Spainish Island [where I live] and will need to alter the headlights - this could mean changing them completely but someone told me that there might be a switch somewhere in the car, that can alter the beam position to comply with EU standard [i.e driving on the right hand side of the road]

I have a 2000 [w] SLK 230 Komp

I would be really glad of any info or advise..

Hi,
Welcome to the forum,
Has your car got zenon headlights? If so there could very well be lever behind each headlight to convert to driving on the continent.
If you have normal headlights it won,t be possible.
Failing that you could stick the beam bender things on the headlights, or you could try German E-bay for a set of LHD headlights.

Thanks for the reply. How will I know if I have zenon lights?


Also, I won't be able to get away with the beam bender, because I want to bring the car over for permenant export which means having it re-registered here.

If you have xenon's then they firstly don't look like normal Halogen lights, they are a large round opaque bulb and have a blue tinge in use.

Hi Mobp.
I have the same problem with my newly aquired SL320 1994.
We live in the centre of France, my car has right hand lights, so I need LHD lights to register.
