Hi, I have a problem with the passenger seat headrest on my CLK W209. The other day when the seat was folded forward the headrest fully extended instead of retracting. This has trapped the seat in the forward position.

I have removed the seat back and I have tried pulling the headrest out of its seating hoping that I could then push it down enough to clear the headlining and fold the seat back but I can’t get the left hand bar free.

Alternatively, I think that I could push the headrest down if I could remove the motor, but can’t see how to remove the motor.

Could anybody tell me if I should be able to pull the headrest out of its seating, and if I can’t do that will I be able to push it down if I remove the motor, and how I can remove the motor.

Thanks.

I can let you have the removing instructions for the head rest motor that will free it off

The headrest just pulls up and out normally

Hi all, thanks for the replies.
Television I would be grateful if you could email the motor removal instructions to reg@rjaalston.wanadoo.co.uk.
I tried to lift the headrest out. The right hand bar came out OK but the left hand bar would not budge, I think I'll need a crow bar! However now that you have confirmed that it should pull out I'll give it another go. I think if I can free the two bars I won't be able to lift it out fully because of the windscreen but I might be able to push it down to the side of the moulding enough to be able to fold the seat back down.
Thanks again for the replies.

Tried this, but it wont budge and don't want to break it. Do you have to give it a hard push or tap?
