Headroom with sunroof?

I was looking online at this E class coupe at Mercland.
Would the sunroof reduce headroom? Fortunately there was a near identical model at a nearby dealer without the sunroof and I had just about sufficient headroom.

Where the actual glass is it will only be the thickness of the glass but the surrounding roof lining will be quite intrusive. I am only 5' 8" and my C Class can be a bit tight. It is easy for me though I just drop the seat a little.

Although Fire Opal Red is a great looking colour I would be more concerned about that and the associated problems with that colour

Thanks for that AJD most informative. I've researched the problem with this colour mainly on posts on this forum and you're absolutely right. I'll give this one a miss.

The 212 saloon/estate is W124 size inside a 6’ 6” could sit in there with a sunroof, the 212 coupe size is misleading as it’s based on the C class platform

You have to sit in one. I find most cars with sun roofs are too low for me. Surprisingly my old micra (90's) had plenty of head room.

It would be worth opening it occasionally and cleaning and polishing the bodywork inside to stop any water pooling.

Thats a good point, and I have never looked inside with it open to see what sort of area we are talkng about.
I wonder if my detailer has done this. Probably not but i will ask.

I have not even worked out how to open mine yet so it will have to stay shut until I have discovered how to open it. Like you I do not want the noise it makes when it is open, just to enjoy the extra light it lets into the car

I wouldn't have mine open at Motorway speeds or on hot days but on the right road on the right day, it’s sometimes very pleasant to have it open.

On the question of the colour was this issue on all models painted red or just a batch?
Back in the late 70s I bought a new Honda Prelude and after 18 months the paint bubbled and rust set in over the entire car. In those days there was only a 12 month warranty and Honda didn't want to know. Only years later after we sold the car did they acknowledge a batch had not been primed.

It was on all models that the colour was an option and is an on-going problem. There has even been law suits launched against MB in the states, no sure about the UK.
