Morning all.

I've got a problem with the headlights on my C Class.

The passenger side headlight keeps going off and the headlights themselves are flickering quite badly.

I'm waiting for some muppet to have a go at me for flashing them to get out of the way!

I've checked the connections and switched the lights from auto to manual but it has made no difference.

Any advice?

Cheers.

Cheers Carabind.

I popped into the local dealers who told me it was likely to be the wiring loom, but they weren't actually sure what it was.

When pressed for a price I was told that the loom itself was quite cheap (no actual price given) but it would need to be booked in for three hours labour, working out at £275 plus VAT for just the labour. I was also told that it might not be the loom but the headlamp units themselves which are about £200 each.

Obviously money no consideration! It's quite amazing the difference once you are out of your 3 years' warantee!

It's going into my local garage today who says he comes accross it quite a lot and it is nearly always a loose or slightly rusted joint.

Fingers crossed!

There will be nothing wrong with the lights or the wiring harness, just a bad connection somewhere along the way, it could be the headlamp switch arcing or a lamp holder, not that hard to find

Malcolm,

Hopefuly my local man will find the fault relatively easily.

With you being a good Westcountry boy, do you know the names of any decent independent merc garages in the area? I'm in Plymouth but don't mind travelling.

My local garage in Plympton is great but not Merc trained.

Thanks.
