The seat pad heater of the drivers seat in my SL has stopped working. :( The back rest still get warm.
I wonder is it likely to be the element that is knackered and how difficult are they to replace

Any input appreciated

More than likely. Not easy to replace as it requires taking the seat apart and special tools. The pads aren't cheap - £150 odd. Possibly could be repaired if it isn't a connection problem but you'll have to remove it to see.

Agree not worth the hassle or cost. difficult to trace the break on the element also, you might cause more damage to the leather trying to remove.

Thanks Stats / Jib I'll have a look at the connections under the seat - does the power pick up on the seat harness branch into back and seat outside of the leather do you know? Otherwise I'll just have to have a warm back and cold backside!

e class
you can buy universal BW(bum warmer) kits kits (via ebaY)and use one pad from that which would save some cash, but will still have the problem of getting it in and out.
What you could do with is a spare seat in your colour/trim from a breakers, though no guarantee that the BWs would still be working..........
