Hi

I'm considering buying an '89 190E 2.6.

The heater makes a loud clacking/clicking noise on setting 2 and 3, although the heater still works.

Is this easy/cheap to fix?

Also, the mileometer stopped working at about 106000 miles, the owner now estimates the mileage to be 120000.

Is this easy to fix again/worth fixing?

The car is going for £750 and seems in good condition apart from the above.

Thanks.

The heater blower can be removed after removing the wiper assembly. Maybe something is just stuck in there and catching on the blower or either that or the blower is about to go. Best to check out Haynes manual.

Don't know about speedo / instruments, but you'll can get one of these cheap at a scrappy.

Check under water pump area for even a small leak and check for play on the water pump pulley before purchase as I had to replace a water pump on the same model when I got mine.

An automatic one of these models does about 30 mpg but up to 35mpg if driven at about 60-65 on straight flat roads.
