Hi All. After the heater on my E/class 2003 W211 has just decide to blow cold constantly, I have Googled the fault, and the suggestions all point to the Duo Valve!
Looks a fiddly job to replace, but the confusing thing is that several people are suggesting that if you give it a Whack, that it sometimes cures the problem!
What can you Whack, without having to strip out all of the Wiper assembly to expose the component!
Obviously if you have to resort to this process, you just as well replace the unit!
Any simple answer would be much appreciated !
Many Thanks
Eddie

It's the top of the duo-valve you need to "tw4t" it jams up - they can be a PITA to get to, I did one on an S-Type Jag which took a few knuckles off

W210 due valve was more 'whackable'; better reach and construction is solenoid actuated. W211 water valve is servo motor driven and due to inner leak it will corrode motor and whacking won't help after some point. Mine was worse looking than this http://www.mese.fi/forum/userpix/6677_IMG_5807_1.jpg

Had the heater control valve on my E55 changed at MBS back in the day. Didn't take Cole long to do it using his method:D
Looks a pig of a job unless you know a few short cuts.
This was my old one.

It's for both. Don't like it leave. There was another smart remark...you doidn't pick on that person. And the remark you did pick on wasn't even about any of your posts.
