heater control

Hi, I am a newbee to Mercedes, I have just bought a 1993 November L Reg C220 petrol, Elagance, Could anyone tell me if this this car has Climate Control or just a standerd heater, the heater is terific but the cold air not so good, I have attached a picture of the controls...Thanks.

Welcome aboard. They are the controls for a standard heating system. Not air con/climate control. Cold air was a very expensive option on the early C Class.

Agreed - no aricon as standard until 1998 (when the deleted the sunroof) - my 1995 looked like that and didn't have aircon either, and that pic doesn't have aircon buttons.

Climate on a Merc was always a bit unnecesaary really. Your heater is fully theormostatic so you set it for what temp you want the interior of the car to be, rather than the temp of the air coming out of the heater as you would on other cars of that era.
So, set the controls to around the middle temp (eqiv to around 70) and never touch it again. On hot days you'll get cool air and on cold, you'll get hot air.

Thanks for the info i wondered how it works, would it be any advantage to renew the dust/ pollen filter, the car has only done 38,000 miles if so where would it be located, it dose'nt tell me in the hand book....Regards David

If it hasn't been changed before I would. It's located under the dash on the passenger side. You remove the lower trim and you will see the bottom of the filter housing which comes off by sliding a couple of clips.

Heater control pollen filter

Thanks Devonian, I will have a go at changing it over the week end,at least to have a look!!.
