Heater Fan only works on max speed

Hi guys
I have had my W203 C180 Kompressor 2006 for a few days now and noticed the heater blower only runs on the maximum speed setting, the demist works ok but the auto function doesn't seem to work, or rather I can't hear the fan blower on auto setting plus with A/C on it does not blow very cold.
Is it likely to be a case of getting a new resistor and an air con recharge??

Also be aware that on auto, the fan will adjust automatically to what it thinks is the correct speed for the temperature / airflow required. Sometimes this is a very slow speed and only just about noticeable with a hand placed by one of the vents. Actually l think it's a really good system.
