Heater Motor No Working

Heater Motor Not Working

Can someone tell me where the heater motor is on a S280 with chassis No 140 engine No 104944 with auto climate control:confused:

under bonnet there is big plastic cover almost full width of engine bay, if you remove it you will find the pollen filter and heater motor under another cover close to n/s bonnet hinge area, think the motors are about £600 gulp!!!!

Thanks I don't know if it is the motor or something wrong with the auto climate control would you know how to reset the control

is the simply not working, if so, yes prob the motor, its easily got to, give it a thump whilst switched on generally they work untill switched off, that should confirm if it is motor. what are the symtoms

No tried it at all settings nothing I thought I had done something with the climate control but tried everything with that as well still nothing

Your AC system is the same as the 129 SL cars, normally on these cars a fault in the control system the fan reverts to 5 volt (slow speed)

You do need a voltmeter to test these parts, as the fan is not running you do need to check what ,if any voltage is going to the fan.

As of 09/95 all module replaced by new module under arm rest center of car.

If you have rear heater does fan work on that.

removed motor just like you said real easy checked voltage going to motor 12 volts checked the brushes still plenty of wear left comutator very badly worn put it back together so I think the motor is goosed

Some carbon brushes have a buit in wire that limits the travel of the brush. are you sure the they are touching the comutator. have you tried running it out of the car.

Yes Malcolm the brushes are touching the comutator as I said the comutator is pretty worn I have not tried running it out the car I take it you just connect up to 12 volt supply.

I will try and check your car, the last of the 124's and early 129's share many components including heater
re old one yes join it up to battery to test
