On a 1999 210 300 turbodiesel the heater plugs were changed earlier this year, one appeared to fail after 6,000 miles and they were all changed under warranty! Now after 2,000 miles they have gone again, any thoughts about what could be happening and ways of checking?

heater plugs

Hi

In my experience MB warrenty won't pay to change all the heater plugs, only the ones that have failed. I would suspect that they only changed the faulty plug. If they have told you that they were all changed and it is less than 12 months then they are still covered under the parts warrenty

As Piestore has said they could be faulty plugs otherwise they must be staying on and burning out.

Check the voltage to the plugs is cut after 30 seconds or so, also run some injector cleaner to ensure an injector isn't spraying onto a plug and overheating it.

It would be worth checking that all the plugs were changed, otherwise it is simply another plug burning out.

Ps. You don't need to wiat for the glow light to go out before starting as the plugs will still be generating enough heat after about 3 secs.
