Stupid question I know, but, is there anyway to get heat out of the central vent, instead of cold air?

What car do you have. It helps a lot to know.

i often thought this, on my w124 its cold from the centre and alos on the w220,

I guess its a way of mercs achieving the L and R heating in cars more apropriately

It is supposed to be cold! The thinking is that by having the centre vents always cold, one gets a cool face and warm feet and lower body. Stops drowsiness, and dozing off.
I love it. A bit of a saftey feature I think, and very controlable. Wish more cars had it.

To be honest I think the central face level vents on most cars only push out fresh air the outer two can be used with warm air to demist side windows I don't think this is peculiar to Mercs:???:

Its a fresh air vent BMWs are like this too (cold only)
Fords however (not sure wether its all models) you can get heat out of the central vent.

W124 centre vents blow cold unless the cars has 2-dial aircon. In which case they seem not to blow cold but follow the other dash vents. Whether this is an aircon-only thing or a common fault I don't know

For those people who really want to know: climate control cars (1 heat dial) are the same in this respect as aircon cars

I have digital 2 zone climate and I must say I love it to bits (also cold from centre and top) Never before on a vehicle I have driven (even with climate) have I never had to fiddle with the adjustments continually to stay comfortable.

I'm not bothered where or what blows as long as I am comfortable.. they seem to have got it right.
