Heeeeelp - How to sell my 450SL

I really need to sell my 450SL.

She is a 1980 450SL LHD. Great condition in gold. New brakes/steering. MOT/tax until August 2006. Hard top #'s match. Leather, alarm etc. Back seats. Started life in Italy and imported in 1990. Recently starred on BBC Scotlands "River City" programme. Been in dry storage for the last couple of years except for the TV outings. Ideally needs new cams - not broke just a little noisy! (circa £100 each + fitting). Drives very well apart from the slight noise. New house and no time - so wife says sell NOW! I only really want £4,700 (OVNO) for her. Which to be honest seems like a bargain to me.

Please tell me how I can sell her. I have tried several avenues to no avail. Any suggestions are welcome!

Couldn't get a wide enough audience to sell my 88 reg 300TE until I tried e-bay. I stopped the auction early because the buyer paid me what I wanted for it. It was a good clean car and if yours is similar you should give e-bay a try.

Incidentally I tried Autotrader first and didn't receive 1 phone call from an interested party, just a dodgy organisation telling me they had somebody on their register who was interested in my car if I paid them £70. I won't repeat what I told them to do. As for autotrader they couldn't give a monkeys whether you sell your car or not, all they were interested in was a repeat fee.

Good Luck, and keep trying, I did and somebody got a good car and I got a result.

Have tried E & M and Ebay. Now getting frustrated as the price is already so low that I will be giving it away soon!

I had my ML up for sale for a few weeks on on all the usual internet stuff....

Then i thoughtbugger this game....

Rang Autotrader....

I want the Biggest Ad you do...for 3 weeks...Colour...the lot!!!

Kid on the end of the phone thought to himself...Happy Birthday...loads of commission.....so on he went....I can put your ad in the neighbouring county magazines for £60....Go on i says to the kid.....

What about Top Marques, he says....yeah go on shove it in there as well!!!

A Total of £340 3 weeks edition in 3 Autotraders....and 1 fortnight edition of the Top Marques.....

I was well gutted, First weekend had 22 calls.... 2 visitors on the sunday....another Monday and paid by Bankers Transfer and money was in my Bank by the tuesday and all gone.....

There was i taking calls the next weekend as well when it cam out in the Top Marques....

Sounds expensive first of all to just have the business of everything but if it gets ya motor sold...then who cares!!

You could always cherish it for a few for months and sell it in the spring. Its a bit like selling lawnmowers in winter, better to wait.
