I've just joined having recently acquired an R231 SL400.

I've previously owned a R172 350... but fancied something newer

I'll take a look around before asking too many questions


but my 1st is - should the boot have 1 or 2 lights inside?

My 2016 SL R231 boot has 3 lights, one on each side, and one in the boot lid, which cleverly shines in two directions. Down is orange light, and inside is white light.

Thanks - mine has the 2 main lamps but only the near side has a wire loom attached. The offside has the light unit but no loom....

Well if it's any consolation, I think mine is "over-lit". It's like stadium floodlighting when I open the boot at night. I think one light is probably fine ?

Managed to fix the lamp

The loom was "missing" - or rather had been disconnected and had fallen down into the well.. a Long stick and tape soon poked it back where it was needed
