Hello my fellow Merc addicts! My name is Rick James (no joke) but that’s as close as I come to being anyone remotely famous. Unfortunately I not a singer songwriter from the US, far from in fact as I’m just a simple guy who lives in a small village amongst the many acres of greenery that is the UK.
After my 21 years of driving a mix of several different cars of all shapes and sizes that was made from manufacturers from around the globe, the one car that not only gave me some of my best memories of driving but is also easily in my top five favourite cars I’ve owned (I’ve owned over 200 cars, so that’s a compliment)! Which was my old CLK430 V8, it’s been 10 or more years since I had that and I still miss it now. And as much as I’d love to go out and get another just to try and relive the memories of when I was in my prime.
I’m 99.9% sure that you would all agree with me on 2 things….. the first being that it would be more depressing than anything else as it would just be a constant reminder that I’m now a middle aged fart that’s having a midlife crisis (meltdown) and secondly is that particular Mercedes model was not built in an era that Mercedes is best remembered for when it comes to the dreaded cancer killer to any vehicle otherwise known as RUST!
So after parting with my most recent car which I sold back in November last year, I decided that rather than me just rush out to the nearest used car dealer and buy something from impulse just for the sake of it. Instead for the first time ever, I sat myself down and made a list of everything that I wanted from a car, which included size, colour, reliability, performance, exterior and interior spec and so on.
You can work out for yourself how serious I took this as it’s taken me just shy of 3 months to actually go out and buy it! And that’s not because I was spoilt for choice as coming to the conclusion of the car I was going to buy but the longest bit was finding one that was “THE ONE” it had to have everything I wanted and I didn’t intend on settling for anything less.
So ladies and gents, I am extremely proud to present to you all my latest family member who (for me) is just absolutely stunning in every way possible!
Without a doubt my choice of manufacturer had to be a Mercedes but deciding on the model is what I found most difficult. But from endless hours of research and reading more reviews than anything else I’ve read in my life I had made my decision on that and then the remainder of the headache went on.
However I won’t continue to ramble on any longer as I’m sure your just thinking hurry up and get to the end and share with us all what you’ve gone and bought yourself and if your not then that’s because I bored you to death several paragraphs back
So low and behold here is my 2006 CLS 320cdi fully equipped with a great spec, low mileage, 2 previous owners and full MB service history. I hope that you all approve! I’d love to hear your feedback on her and I look forward to many years of making great new memories in it as well as making new friends from this forum!
Thanks again and sorry for my rambling, stay safe Rick J
