First post so, predictably, hello everyone!

I've just brought a 53 reg c200k estate. Its in pretty good nick really, having covered 112,000 miles. Thing is i've been trying to find a workshop manual and, well, i can't! No one seems to do them for the age of car. I did find a site where you can get them on dvd, ElectronicManuals.co.uk. Has anyone purchased a manual from here, if so was it any good?

Also can any other owners of this model merc let me know what problems they have had with it, or what to look out for?

Many thanks,

James.

Hi James and welcome,, there ar CD's on the net but they are hard to install and run, it might be easier if you ask the questions as we do not get many faults on these

Ok Cheers for that. Didn't think about install and run issues!

First question then ( i know the manual wouldn't help with this!!), its got a tiny bit of paint bubbling and flaking on the passenger door window pillar, right where it meets the top bit. The car has a full MBSH, will this get fixed under warranty?

I think that I am right in saying that they are held on with double sided tape, some may have one tiny screw under the rubber seals

Yes that item is replacable and its held on with double sided tape. You have to prise upwards the long trim at the bottom of the outside glass and all will be exposed. A word of warning you will wreck the old one getting it off and you only have one chance getting the new one in the correct position.

Tools required:
A 3 in Wide piece of plastic to lever up the trim;I can send a piece
Solvent or meths to clean the old glue off.
Some Waxol to stop the window trim clips from rusting when replacing the long piece.

AFIK the part no is W2036902987 but check with you dealer as there are different finish depending on the trim level you have Classic/elegance/avantgarge.

I done this job a couple of months ago as i had corrosion in the same place and MB refused the claim for £30 parts and 30 mins labor.

Cheers for that racall, if it only costs 30 quid i might not bother driving the 100 or so miles to the bodyshop on the off chance that MB 'fancy' doing it under warranty!!
