Hi everyone,

Just signed up to the forum. I have few questions regarding the car we just bought - mainly about cold starting - but I'll post them later in the relevant sections.

Just got a 2014 E Class Coupe 350d last week, 54,000 kms (based in Spain). Very happy with it so far, it's a total change to the Peugeot Partner daily driver / school run wagon!

I've only had a few days to get to know the car and the engine - OMG the torque! It's been good so far aside from one small issue, but thanks to this forum I have a strong suspicion it's the glow plug relay. It's been -2C here the last couple of mornings which is pretty chilly for us and the first start of the day has taken a few seconds of turning over before it comes to life - I do check the glow plug light has gone out before starting. After that it's fine all day. Due to the relatively low mileage and overall condition of the car I suspect it's spent most of its life in a heated garage and hasn't had too many sub-zero starts.

The dealer (not a Mercedes dealer) I got it from has provided a 2 year guarantee, but they're in Madrid and I'm south of Valencia about 400km away - so I can't just pop in! The local mechanic I've used for several years and have a lot of confidence in agrees it could be the issue and will put a new one in (Bosch?) to see if that's the problem.

I'm sure you'll hear more about it if that doesn't solve the problem!
