If you accept among you a Frenchman from Paris and his wretched English, I would be delighted to join you, while I am in the process of importing a 2010 E500 convertible from Germany which I love the indigo blue.

On the French forums, the worst disasters are promised to any purchaser of a vehicle over 10 years old, particularly with regard to the 7 G-Tronic plus and its blue or red oil, whose owners seem to desperately haunt the various dealerships and garages, with the hope of a remission which seems never to come. Hoping that I myself will not lose my smile soon with this magnificent car, first hand, maintained in the network and 50k(m) I tell myself that it will be fine. Cheers!

Regarding the 7G, providing you get the gearbox serviced every 5 years or 100,000km (whichever is first) and with the correct fluid and filter and importantly fill level, then you should be fine with the 7G.

At 160,000km or 10 years, start to keep an eye on the engine and gearbox mounts needing to be changed. This can contribute to clunky/rough gear change.

Well, thank you all. I have requested quotes from insurers for a mechanical breakdown policy. The annual premium is about 1500€. This means that the annual breakdown budget should be less than this amount. Good news.

Good point! I discovered the car and its V8 on the way back to Paris. A marvel. Speed limited to 210 km/h because of the snow tyres. I just found the brakes a bit weak.
