Screenshot_20200511-145102_Instagram.jpg Hi Guys & Gal's

Just joined the forum as it came recommended. I have been a Mercedes fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

So this is a quick introduction to my car which to be far is the longest I have ever owned any car and I have had a fair few ! I will hopefully pass this on to my son when I get bored.

Car was originally a 1993 K Reg 320E - 5 Speed Auto
I had installed a 1996 C36 3.6 AMG M104 Engine
Remapped the originally ECU

Now this ran for a while then the 5 Speed box gave up on one of the gears - A common problem I believe, I always wanted to convert the car to manual so thought this is the time to do it (This episode started 3 years ago)
The Manual Box installed is a:
124 260 08 01 7174120 1304780
The prop-shaft was modified
The car was up and running and drives fine however - I have 1 or two issues which I am hoping that someone can help on before I park the car up and leave it till I calm down LOL

If the car is driven slow the car drives fine, As soon as you start to drive the car hard as in take it up the rev range when you change gear its like the power disappears (The car does not stall or cut off it's just like it's in limp) when the revs come down the car then picks up again ?

Can anyone shed some light it would be greatly appreciated - If it fixes the problem I will send you a drink I just want to get the car back on the road and done.

That’s a REALLY nice looking car. I’m not generally a fan of high gloss black wheels on a black car, but the way you’ve done it- thumbs up.
Why a manual, by the way? I suspect that this will be where your problem lies.

The Auto box was not great and I always wanted to do a Manual Conversion, If I drive like my Dad it's fine but I just need to tweak this issue that I have with the car then it will be spot on !

Many thanks for your comments - Much appreciated

You’re welcome, compliments where they’re due.

The reason I ask is that MB are well known for probably the smoothest and most solid auto boxes on the planet.

Normally I would agree - However I had my 5 Speed Auto repaired twice and I was not going to get it done a 3rd time.

Now I just need to sort the small niggles of the Manual conversion then I will be happy :)

Hello and welcome Amar! I agree with Craiglxviii about your black wheels - like him I'm not usually a fan but they yours do look extremely good.

I ran around in a manual C220 for 7-10 days about 10 years ago. It was a colleague's company car so only about a year old but I thought the gear change and clutch lever was horrible. And apart from the fact that (as above) MB's are known for superb auto boxes, I just can't be bothered with stirring a bowl full of gears - that's one of the reason I bought a Mercedes!
