New 2005 Mercedes E270 CDi Estate owner.

I've never owned a Mercedes before, always VWs (have had various Golfs and have a T25 Panel van) and Fords.

I have bought this as a car for my partner to take our daughter and friends on dancing trips (lots of gear so space needed). This is the Estate 7 seat version.

These seem very big compared to anything else i have had and with all the motorised stuff seem very complicated which is worrying me now.

Im not sure how reliable it will be. This has done 150k but from what I read before buying it it seems that is ok as they can do high milage, i hope that is right.

The car needs a few jobs doing (mostly cosmetic really) which I want to do. The bodywork is pretty much rust free which is good.

Im under no illusion that on a 15 year old car bits are going to need to be sorted Ive had a 1989 VW T25 Panel van for years that's now more like "Trigger's brush"

I think its the autobox that is a concern as i've never had one and don't know much about them but i'm hoping my concern is just misplaced. Is there anything that is a mist do with them?

Hi Chris,

Regarding the worry with the auto box. Check the paperwork looking for an oil change, “atf” in recent years, 4 years or 40k miles.

For peace of mind I would get the “Atf” changed with a decent independent garage. It should then serve you well for the next few years.

Thankyou for the advice. There is no paperwork with this other than a log book. Will look for a garage.
