Hi All,

I need help.
I have a 2000 CLK 200 (RHD)

I have been away for a few months, and the battery has gone completely flat - the only way to get into the car is by using a key to unlock the door.

To make matters worse, the battery is located in the boot, and I cannot get into the boot to open it
I think the previous owner has damaged the boot lock, and it does not open at all with the keys (I have never had to use the key to open boot before -always been electronic).

What can i do? Is there any other way to "jumpstart" or "tap into" the battery from another part of the car - Only for 10 seconds whilst I hit the boot release button?

Your help will be much appreciated

Boot locks always seem to jam up 'cause they are permanently drenched in road muck. Have you tried squirting a load of WD40 right in to the lock? Leave it for a good while and then try putting the key in and out. You might have to leave it a few hours but that should work. Assuming it isn't actually damaged of course.

Best of luck.

Had exactley the same problem, called mobilo out and the only way they could open the boot to get to the battery was to put power to the central locking through the fuse box located under the bonnet (s class). If you look in your manual it should tell you which fuse it is and where it is located. If you are unsure, call a auto electrician or mobilo if you are still covered by there warranty. Hope this helps.

Don't know if this is any help but my E240 has the battery mounted under the rear seat so has live and neutral posts under the bonnet to be used for jump starting, perhaps the CLK has a similar arrangement?

Some of the portable jump starters you can buy from Costco, woolworths etc can be connected through the cig lighter. Your not going to get anything like enough power to jumpstart the car but maybe you will be able to open the boot?

open bonnet - with a set of jump leads and a good battery turn on ignition and hold the ends of the jump leads onto the starter motor terminals - engine should start - keep revs up and disconect battery - run until your battery has some charge , then open boot while engine is running, you can then attend to your own battery.
