Hi,
One for Alfie - or anyone else who knows - I've just bought myself an O2 XDA Ignito phone. It's a windows mobile jobbie but actually smaller and lighter than my old nokia 6230i.

So, I now urgently need to swap my nokia UHI cradle for a bluetooth one
What do I need?
Viseeo?, MB?, one that takes over?, one that uses your phones transmitter? - help .....

Phones running Windows mobile will not work with SAP module (that uses the car aerial), so ViseeO would be good or the MB HFP module (both use the phone's aerial)

I'm sure Alfie will be along shortly to correct/expand on my ramblings :)

Why is it you can never find an Alfie when you really need one?:D

Failing that, any MB dealer should be able to advise?

Or drop an e-mail to Comand.co.uk

They gave me a very helpful reply on a similar question.

Thanks Guys - saw your comments, had a bit more of a read round and came to the same conclusion - MB HFP or Viseeo 2000 - SAP won't work. Isn't it crazy that the amazing technology built into a smart phone can't cope with the simple SAP profile stuff whereas a much noddier phone can. You'd think it would be a simple software patch.

So I bit the bullet and plumped for the Viseeo. Hopefully winging it's way as I type - all the way from the command web site.

Please do a thread letting us know the pros and cons when you've got used to it. I have a 6239i and want to make a change in the near future and some feedback would be useful.

will do.

In the mean time, Very impressed with the 'Ignito' phone - as a gadget anyway.Look and feel light years from the 6230i. Only a couple of mm wider, 1/2 the depth and about as heavy. Full pocket PC functionality so I can use word etc and a kind of Iphone front end so you can flick through photos etc by wiping your finger over the screen - you can even do this over photos of friends and when you find the one you want to call, tap it and it calls or texts them!. Its also go E-GPS so I'm going to try to find a tomtom app for it.
I quite like the fact that it does handwriting recognition so I can now scribble text messages rather than sit there pressing keys for 10 mins. Its got all the usual internet stuff and can connect to my home network so surfing is free.
Downsides are the battery life which I suspect will be around 1 - 1 1/2 days if i don't use it too much (comes with an array of chargers so no biggie) and, as with all windows kit, it did lock up after an hour of playing last night.

I'll let you know on the viseeo.

Thanks. It is the Viseeo I'm particularly interested in as I think it works with up to three bluetooth phones.

Sorry, only just seen this thread!

Viseeo MBU-2000 or HFP should work fine with this phone. Viseeo has the added benefit that it is S/W upgradeable to cope with future phones.

Jberks - Your cradle will be with you very soon;)

Hi Alfie,
I'm happy with my choice from the pov of functionality and upgradeability (and price) but I was flicking through the manual last night (made it to P58 of 400 so far!) and it started talking about "SAP profile mode for bluetooth car kits". It went on to describe it working in the way I would expect it to - e.g. the phone won't dial or answer etc if in this mode until you disconnect from the car - effectively in standby mode.
As I say, I'm happily sticking to the viseeo anyway as I don't think the extra benefits of the SAP cradle - less power usage plus utilising the car ariel, are really worth the extra cost, compatibility issues and lack of upgradeability, but, as an academic excercise, how confident are we that the MB SAP cradle wouldn't have worked?
(Its an O2 XDA/HTC Diamond 100)
thanks
JB

Viseeo update

As requested by Hawk - how I find the cradle.
Firstly - thanks to Alfie for the quick delivery.
Quality and feel wise, maybe not quite to the slick MB standards in terms of buttons and LEDs but certainly perfectly fine for the purpose especially given the price difference. No complaints anyway. Plugs in exactly the same as the previous cradle.
Pairing - It shows as 2 separate bluetooth devices but on my phone it initially only showed as one (I didn't wait long enough) and so my first pairing failed. The second attempt and Viseeo showed alongside the first entry. Followed the instructions and it paired.
The sync light flashed and flashed and after a few mins I checked the cars display to find no numbers showing so I assumed it just couldn't do it. Then after mucking around trying to figure out how to send them by bluetooth (issue with the phone not the cradle) I checked again and they were magically there. Again - patience issue I think.
What I like
The voice dial button and function seems good.
Its on the wake-up circuit which means that once you unlock the car it's up and pairing so normally online before you start the engine.
It works with this phone - my Landrover's inbuilt system doesn't.

Issues
I do have a few but I'm not going to mention them yet as I suspect they may have far more to do with the phone than the cradle so I'm still experimenting. I'm going to pair with my old nokia and see how that behaves - then I'll report back.
