HELP!!! Anyone out there who can give me some advice???

Recently bought my first Mercedes Benz E200....and must say up to now am rather impressed.

Although there are just a couple of problems I could do with some advice on .... so if anyone who knows a thing or two about these cars maybe you could help????

Firstly the drivers side window is not working the electric motor sounds to be working but the window not moving?? any suggestions for a DIY repair?

Secondly have recently had problems with the starting of the car....Occasionally the car will cut out (the revs just die!!) although it starts again immediately sometimes this will occur just once.. other times happens a few times......doesn't just happen when it's cold happens after a run!! Any suggestions would be appreciated especially if it could save an expensive trip to the MB garage!!

PS Model is a Automatic, E200 1995.

maybe a fuel leak letting in air

the clear pipes from fuel pump to engine developed a leak on mine. Caused starting problems due to air ingress. Same age as yours but mine was a diesel.

Same Crap happened to my E220.
Check the fusebox for electric windows' fuses. Make surethey're 100% OK.
When I did this, I found that the previous owner had replaced the fuse (which ahd presumably blown out) with a piece ofwood!!!!

Not the best advice!!!

my electric window wouldnt go down so i replaced the motor and it worked fine for a few days and then stopped while i was miles away from home and it was annoying me so i took off the door pannel and when i pressed the switch i could hear it click but the window wouldnt move so i got a bit angry and hit the motor with a wheel key and its worked fine for 2 years now lol.

C200 problems

Looks like your front window's mechanicals are jammed by something or one of the gears driving the mechanism has fallen off or broken. Only way to find out is to take the trim off. Mine are the 1994 and 1997 C180s basically the same as yours only for the smaller displacement motors. It looks like you may have a fuel pump problem. Is it making a lot of noise coming from under near the rear right wheel? If its time to change this, the filter is usually changed too. I have changed the 1994's, but the 1997's is original still. Could still be other faults, but I am no expert and can only say what I think is the most likely spot to look at.
