Hi all. My 2017 c220d has a completely flat battery after it being sat unused for months due to the zombie apocalypse. Put new battery in key fob, but it still won’t unlock the car. Tried using the blade key in the drivers door lock but it won’t even turn. Any ideas on how I can get into my car? Or is it just a permanent driveway feature to look at now? :D Thanks in advance :)

Spray lubricant into the lock and work the key until it can turn. Do the Same for the boot lock

Tried that yesterday, but I’ll give it another go thanks. I couldn’t find a boot lock. Do you know where it is? Another cover to pop off?

Is there a particular lubricant recommended? There's usually a perfect product.

Should be up underneath just next to where you grab the release handle

I use a silicone spray lubricant as I've quite a lot of it...

And I do both locks every 6 months

a 3 year old car really shouldn't have a seized lock at all , have you tried gently pulling the handle as you try turn the key ??

Yes, I’ve tried the method for the older cars where you turn the key (even though mine hardly moves at all) and keep pulling the handle a few times until the door releases too. I did think at 3 years old the locks shouldn’t have seized. Is there any way I can get some charge into the car from below? Then use the fob?

Are you sure it is the right blade key?

I’ve taken it out the fob that I’ve used for the last year. But haven’t had from new, so possibly?

are you in the AA or RAC ?

Yes but I’m not sure it has home service. It’s just what we have with a bank account so I’m guessing basic cover. I’ll have a check though. If there’s a way of getting under the car and getting some charge into the car, I’m up for it?

Has it always been serviced by a Mercedes dealer? Or was the last service done by them? If so, you can call out Mobilo, their free recovery service,

Yes it was not long in a Mercedes. I’ll give that a go.

Malcolm (aka Television - RIP) used to suggest penetrating oil, insert the key then vibrate it with an electric toothbrush.

Most bank account breakdown cover does now cover home call outs, I know mine does with HSBC

If you push an opened up, wire coat hanger with a hook bent in the end through the door rubber you can pull the inner door handle and open the car.

No you can’t, if the doors are locked the inside handle is disengaged so pulling it does nothing

That actually works - thanks yet again, Malcolm - your hints and tips live on.
I would guess that anything that would give a vibration would help, while gently applying torque to the key (hand held food blender, drill, etc.)
Beware of the paintwork!
