Hi everyone, this is my first post so hoping for some help. I drive my beloved C180 Coupe Sport Evo which is a 54 plate. I've read some posts regarding connecting an ipod through the radio which I get, but it's the HOW part I DON'T get .... I know I have a 6 changer CD in the glove box and a CDC button on the radio facia. Now then, I assume you can hook up the ipod, (which is ipod nano 3rd gen), through the back of the CD changer and press and hold the CDC button in order to access AUX? few... this is hard! I suppose what I need to know is: What cable & approx cost? Can I do it without dismantling my car (that would have catastrophic outcome so avoidence is best)?, and is there a non-technical, non-abreviated step-by-step guide for the complete and utter non-techie minded female MB lovers?

Assistance with the above would be v.much appreciated and I promise not to ask such dumb questions in the future... well... i do have one more but I'll wait a while :D

Thanks in advance

First of all you need the Aux In connection inside the glovebox.
I seem to recall that if you have an Audio 20 radio, this feature was only available from 2005 on? If you press and hold the CDC button, the display should read Aux Input Active if this feature is available.

If you have COMAND, it may be different.

My that was quick and thank you Malcolm & Russ. I have no idea what audio system I have, I shall dig out the doc's and try the button thingy to see if AUX becomes active. Here's hoping!!

There is always an option to use FM simulator to use IPOD via Radio signal with minimal effort and excellent results. bascially buy an FM simulator from ebay or anywhere and plug in to your cigrette lighter then plug your IPOD to the simulator connector and tune into the FM on your stereo and it will pick the song you playing on your IPOD on your Stereo.

by the way COMAND is a double size tv screen unit which fits in your stereo slot, this is a very high end Mercedes stereo.

When I was in the showroom the other day, I noticed a poster 'mercedes benz accessories' and one portion was a picture of an iPod... What is it Mercedes offer that incorporates MP3 players? (I don't have Comand)

They offer a kit that plays the i pod & charges it, you can use the steering wheel controls to operate it but it depends on what model of radio and year of your car. Doesn't fit all MB's.

Hi everone, well, I pressed and held the 'CDC' button on my radio and it acitivated the AUX setting. Does this mean I can get a cable to connect into the back of the CD player in order to use the AUX funtion for my ipod, or does it mean I need to run a cable to the back of the stereo/ audio system?

Thanks

I can only go by my CLK.
The connection is in the passenger door trim, on the floor.
If you lift the black plastic door trim next to the passenger seat, there should be a white plastic connection, remove the doorwell trim & you can feed the new cable up to the glovebox. The end of the glovebox pops off & there is a hole circled in the plastic which will press out.

If you search some of the US forums there are photos which may help you.
The whole job took me less than 15 minutes & the cable cost £17 from MB.

Is the procedure to fit the input for a w208 or w209 CLK, as I would like to install the same in my ('07 209)CLK as the Aux input is not fitted into my car, also I notice all the work is done on the RH side of the car in the photo's, is this the same on both UK and USA cars or is it on the left side in the UK.
What was the MB part No for the cable and Jack plug kit?

Regards Gerry

The pictures are from a USA car, the connection for mine was on the left or passenger side. I think the part number is A 210 440 50 05.
