Magnetic pick-up tool?

I contemplated changing the bulbs in my SLK, the handbook reckons it can be done from under the bonnet - damned if I could see how, reckon it's a wheels off arch liner pulled back job!

Maybe very carefully wrap the end of coat hanger with some soft tape and try and fish and stick it out.

Or try a decent magnet from the outside and hope it will attract and then pull it up. p

Or if you have a magnet. attach to some strong string on a small stick and put it in the headlight. again careful ots not scratching the inner reflective lens

It’s only the front section of the wheel arch liner, comes off pretty easily

So I've heard Russ, but as I seldom drive the SLK after dark, find the existing lights OK (no idea what bulbs are installed) decided to leave it alone until bulb failure means no choice!

Double sided tape on some flexible yet stiff wire, bend to suit..

It is with the SLK, but the SLC has a access flap in the wheel arch liner. The down side is the access is much smaller. Thanks for the suggestions I will try the options over the weekend, but it’s such an awkward place to get into.

Today I accepted defeat & took the SLC to my local garage, the one I have used for MOT's for years.
He managed to recover the original clip from inside the headlight, & fix it back in place.
Any more headlight bulb changes will go straight to him.
