someone please help...since last 6 weeks my car has been playing up{after a full service.}
my e-200 was very sluggish and was losing power from start point.took it back to the mechanic many times..advised to have my maf changed together with the lambada sensor...didn,t cure the problem...and whats more it started consuming far too much petrol..i am used to getting approx.340 miles on a full tank..now i,m getting only 210..
however, i took it to an independent mechanic who had years of experience working with mercedes dealers... after his diagonstic..he told me the throttle body was faulty..had that changed..when this job was completed,he informed me that the cat had also gone..well i have just had a new cat fitted..and the result is ...zero ..all the previous symtons are there, i am still achieving approx. 200 miles on a full tank...can someone out there put any light on this please..i have spent a small fortune ...why is it consuming so much petrol?...thanks .:

Since you've had so many things changed already all I can think of at the moment that may be worth checking are things like:

Timing - if it's out this would cause the sluggishness and poor economy
Spark plugs - were these changed in the service? Are they correctly gapped etc
HT leads - when were these changed and are they correctly on e.g. in the right firing order etc
Crank sensor - though I'm not sure this would cause the effetc you mention, usually associated with cutting out and stalling issues

There are also quite a few reputable places people use on here that you could take the car to have it checked over - whereabouts are you based? After all the work thats been done I'm sure you should be able to get it sorted by one of the places that's already done work as obviously something that they've done has caused this, either directly or indirectly?

Cheers,
Mark

What is the fuel pressure?

Has it been tested?

What are the emission values?

Is it a 124 or 210 (what year is it)
