My 300E has 180k and drives beautifully except for stalling frequently during deceleration. Been to the dealer 3 times to fix and they can't figure it out. Last trip they wanted $1300 to replace the air flow sensor.
Swapped it out myself and it still stalls. HELP! So far they tried the overload sensor and all fuel areas check out.

I'm no guru, but this happened to me recently.

Every morning on the way to work and on the way home in the evening it would stall when I came to a halt at a particular junction.

I changed the OVP relay for one I had refurbished/resoldered, and also changed the fuel pump relay for one I got from a scrapped car.

So far so good, a cheap fix, and no stalling in the last 3 months.

My money was on the fuel pump relay, it's a complex little sucker and won't take kindly to old brittle solder joints. I plan to open it up and resolder all the joints so I have a good spare.

Good Luck.

thanks for the response Andy and Richard. The OVP relay was the first thing they tried. I'll move onto the Fuel pump relay next. My car stalls at almost the same place evrytime, coming off the highway exit ramp or turning into my road, i'm not sure if it has to do with driving duration/length of trip or a physical thing like pitch or incline of the car.

Hey Andy......will a part # matching KE control unit be ok to just "swap" out? Any special required proceedure to follow? There is a Benz salvage yard pretty close so I should be able to get one relatively easily.

thanks
Rich
